Thank you for the gift of wit and candor you gave us, Beano. You were one of a kind. This morning is usually the morning I listen to the podcast. I hope St. Peter likes stores about the 1944 Notre Dame-Army game. I know I sure did. Hail to Pitt.

After the Archangels dropped down to give you a lift, Beano, did you make a last request for Notre Dame to go undefeated when you reached your well deserved lofty destination?

I worked with Beano at ABC in the early 70's. He would come over to watch Casablanca each time it was on. In 1973 he had seen it 64 times. He knew every line and unfortunately one never got to hear Bogart or Bergman--just Beano.

My true love is the NFL (totally on the opposite side of where you stood) but I know how to be grateful for those that have paved an amazing path for all of us football lovers. You have made your mark in the hearts and minds of many and fought a tough battle. Respect is something that you will never lack from others. RIP Beano
